It was wonderful seeing you all at the Shala Annual Gathering celebration earlier this month, which was this semester’s highlight event. This was our opportunity to celebrate the year with the kids and parents, and it was a resounding success with the children and teachers presenting high-quality and entertaining programs. It truly showed the hard work by the students, teachers and committee members. In this Spring semester, the kids also learned about Sankranti, Holi, Shivjayanti, Gudhi Padwa and other cultural activities. 

Now as we are wrapping up this semester there are a few Announcements pertaining to the upcoming exams. Parents, please continue to encourage your children with their assignments and preparing for the upcoming exams.

• End of semester exams will be held in May. Exams will be IN-PERSON and children are REQUIRED to take them as a part of their yearly assessment for promotion to the next level. 
• Promotion criteria: In order to be promoted to the next level, students need to achieve a 50% passing grade in each of the Written and Verbal sections, in the absence of which they will repeat in the same level in the upcoming academic year. These children will be offered a retake of the same level exam in early August (to allow for summer extra prep) in order to be promoted to the next level. 
• There will also be a short Summer Practice packet shared by your teacher. Please have the students work on it through the summer, to keep the learning continuity.
• Watch out for the Parent Survey coming your way. By answering it promptly, you help us make critical decisions for the next year. We request you to please fill out the parent survey and indicate if your child will be returning to Shala in the fall in the new academic year. 

Updates regarding the next academic year will be posted in June, with Registration starting in July. Please watch this space for more information.
