A word from the Principal of HMM Marathi Shala, Amrut Athavale –

We are about a month and half into our 2023-24 Shala year and the first semesters off to a great start! The kids are enjoying learning at the Shala and participating in the branch activities. The teachers and coordinators are taking a lot of effort to ensure the students are learning Marathi playfully. A big thank you to them!! We have kicked off several initiatives that we had mentioned in the last update, namely, reading buddies, mystery readers, Aukshan to celebrate kids’ birthdays and treasure box/prizes! The reading and homework logs ensure that the kids are studying at home as well. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who are working with their kids at home with homework assignments and are volunteering their time to come to our branches to interact with the kids! The kids enjoy them coming in and interacting with them about various topics in Marathi.

At the recent HMM Ganeshotsav event on September 30, several Shala kids and teachers participated in various cultural programs. They did a great job and are making the Shala proud! I had a few minutes to talk during the event where I gave information about our Shala to the large audience at VPSS and introduced them to the teachers, coordinators and the Shala core committee. We are now looking forward to and planning our Shala Diwali celebration on November 11. On this day students enrolled in all branches of our Shala and their parents will come together to have fun and celebrate the Diwali festival. We have planned several awesome and exciting Diwali related activities for the kids to have them learn about Diwali in a fun way. We will be distributing BMM certificates to the students who passed the BMM exam in the 2022-23 academic year and celebrate their accomplishment.  We will distribute tasty Diwali Pharaal boxes at the end. We are all so looking forward to this event!
